AGENDA...
Child molesters have one...
People need one to STOP them.

horizontal rule

  The Offender

1. What type of person would molest a child?
2. How often does this occur?
3. Why do people molest children; what drives them to it?
4. Is there any racial or religious differentiation in the profile of the offender? Do ethnic minorities commit more of these crimes, or people with stronger religious backgrounds?
5. Where do most of the offenders live? What type of social background do they have?
6. Are many of these offenders affluent people, thereby creating the problem of lack of communication with political figures in the communities?
7. Is anyone susceptible to this crime?

The Attitude

1. Why would political figures want to cover up crimes of this nature?
2. Why is a problem like incest discussed so freely these days, when a subject such as this is covered up, and silenced?
3. Doesn't the public want to be informed?
4. How does the Church feel about this?
5. Does the economic condition of a community affect it's attitudes toward this problem?
6. Is there a way of reversing some of these attitudes?
7. Are communities willing to listen?

Statistics on the Problem

1. How many cases of sexual molestation against children are reported every year; what are the actual figures?
2. Does the child come from any specific background?
3. In how many cases does death result?
4. What areas of the country is the problem most prevalent?
5. What part of the United States has the highest rate of child molestation?
6. Who is more likely to want to avoid this problem-religious leaders, or politicians?
7. How many cases of child molestation involve one or both of the parents?
8. Are girls a higher target risk than boys?
9. What are the effects on the child; how many of the victims will require extensive therapy in later years?
10. How many cases of child molestation actually appear in court; how many are prosecuted, and how may are actually convicted and sentenced for the crime?
11. Are our courts as concerned with the problem as they ought to be; or do they share the same indifference as the rest of our political system?

These are some of the questions that all concerned citizens should be asking if they care about children.
